Ophuls' powerful documentary looks at the hypocrisy of nations in applying justice for war crimes when the laws they are upholding are later broken by their own nations. In examining the just and needed trials at Nuremburg the filmmaker cuts to Algeria and Vietnam and asks why France and America don't apply the same rules to themselves. 4 hour plus length shouldn't scare off viewers....fascinating.

If any Brit wants to look down on a 'savage' country, I tend to point them to the genocide we committed in Kenya and the atrocities committed in Ireland to shut them up.
