Beautiful! The mill becomes a thriving ecosystem, just as the film is a delicately balanced system of image, music, color and montage. And in the end, Jackson's little film is deeply moving: all any of us are trying to do is ride out the storm.
Unprecedented meticulous depiction in film of a world almost devoid of any human presence (the exception would be the mill, and maybe some cows that seem to walk as if herded). While other Disney's nature "symphonies" seem to be subordinate to a unifying music, here we get a general sense of beauty, but fragmented and with small dissonances. Pursues a balance between delicate and strong movement.
An atmospheric beautiful animated Academy Award winner about nature and what happens just before and after a big storm renders an old mill even more weather-weary and broken. Who said that animated short movies are not art? This is one of many that should be shown to those who doubt it.
