hm, something that threw me off a little about the paper chase was the distinct lack of characterization w/r/t kingsfield, who's mythologized and mystified as this great lawyer, but whose depth and abilities we don't really get to see, beyond being an aggressively socratic professor, not enough to justify hart's/the students' supreme adoration, in my view.
This movie's about a lot of things, and it sometimes seems to be about none of those things. There's a lot it's dealing with and it's only skimming the surface. I wanted it to go deeper. Not a bad film though. Has some good performances, good moments, and an atypical but good John Williams score.
