A charming romantic comedy of great warmth and energy, with fine performances from Davies, who just lights up the screen (her imitation of Lillian Gish is one of the comic highlights of the silent era) and the magnificent Marie Dressler.
The Patsy is one of the great silent comedies/romcoms. Davies did her best work with Vidor. Dressler turned her career around here, and Jane Winton was never sexier imo, playing the attn starved mean sister beautifully. Davies impersonations of other stars of the day like Gish are spot on and alone are worth checking this one out. You'll stick around for the relatable family dynamic and comedy that results. 4.5 stars
