  • melly's rating of the film The Pirates of Penzance

The Very Model of a Modern Gilbert and Sullivan Production. For the uninitiated, it's part musical, part operatic parody of many musical styles. The script and antics are similar to Mel Brooks films (including gullible, soft-hearted pirates who will leave anyone who says they're an orphan alone). Indeed, Kevin Kline does well in channeling his inner Gene Wilder here. Features the famous "Modern Major General" number.
