Critics reviews

I’ll confess to being skeptical about THE RAFT, which, much like the cuckoo social experiment it details, at first seems like something centered on sex and violence. • Superfrog's rating of the film The Raft

I like the technique of the documentary, a mix of archives and of original participants telling g their point of view, avoiding the trap of single analytical point of view. And I enjoyed the subject of this documentary. That makes for full marks, something that I don't do all that often. Meeting with director and 4 of the surviving crew members, particularly the captain, make this a truly enjoyable experience.

  • johmus's rating of the film The Raft

Reality experiment shot in a fixed environment with fixed purposes on a crew picked to manipulate the outcome of the experiment about human violence towards human violence. Sometimes too slow, sometimes too narrow but overall it's documentary storytelling about the human condition and the power of togetherness inside a group at the face of danger. A film born out of extremely bold way of thinking.
