4,5. A brilliant exercise in cinema, that from a typical situation of a film genre entertains itself to play, literally using cinema as a playful intelligent object of deconstruction, includind a quote of Hitchcock's "Psycho", but from a perspective that De Palma would later use: structuralist. Piccoli and Signoret inner monologues are a superior articulation of sound-image, one of many in a film that is great.
