this is quite a puzzling film, a bit cryptical and trippy for many....that is just my humble opinion but I consider it to be a darkly enthralling vision about this historical pilgrimage. Incredibly good cast for the occasion. The ambiguous and visceral relationship between Kinski and Clementi in this film is really something. As usual Dominique Sanda is marvellous (Bresson was definitely right).
