Synopsis

Judge Josephine Praetorius-Camusot falters in her legal routines when, during celebrations of Franco-German relations, an exhibit awakens from a 150-year slumber: composer Hans List from the Paris Commune—who looks just like her! Chased by authorities, List hides in a rehearsal at the opera.

Our take

An inventive “what if” experiment, this comedy lampoons the hypocrisies of the German legal system with thrilling wit and a light touch. As the romcom meets the courtroom procedural and the period drama, past and present playfully collide in Sophie Rois’s ingenious dual performance.
