An earnestly faithful and handsome rendering of this particular backstage story. There's a tender regard for the subjects with some genuine sentiment concerning the eventual failure of the partnership and the death of Sullivan. The lengthy excerpts from the Savoy operas are beautifully staged; indeed the whole enterprise looks of its depicted time with superb art direction and a surprisingly spry script.
