Jane, a teenager, tries to deal with the realization that she is a lesbian after an intense friendship with another girl leads to her first sexual experience. Jane’s mother, Janice, struggles with the revelation of her only daughter’s sexuality.

It's strange to see this film and know that it was broadcast in a time where most viewers were meant to identify with Stockard Channing's character, but I'm certain the degree to which this little TV-movie tried to empathize and reason with homophobes ended up changing a lot of minds (and probably a lot more than my beloved progressively queer "down with the straights!" indie films)
