As a string of mysterious killings grips Seattle, Bella, whose high school graduation is fast approaching, is forced to choose between her love for vampire Edward and her friendship with werewolf Jacob.
This film is not currently playing on MUBI but 30 other great films are. See what's now showing
It would be entertaining if it didn't take itself so goddamned seriously. The series gets better in the same way that a case of stomach flu is better than a case of lyme disease. Eclipse tried to act like a real movie but once it works under the presumption that you're 14 and have seen the previous installments 23 times apiece you realize that like a child it isn't as intelligent as you thought it was. Dummy...
A great comedown from the first two films. Among the several mistakes are bringing back the villain from the 1st film. Also (and this problem can't be helped because it is inherent in the books), Bella and Edward are a very uninteresting couple. That Stewart and Pattinson are limited actors who seem to have gotten worse doesn't help matters.
The two best looking guys at school are both in love with the same girl who has zero personality and then there's a big lead up to a fight that lasts a minute and the bad guys clearly have no chance of winning. What fun.
Eclipse is an improvement of its predecessor. The photography is better and the script above all. In the other hand, the interpretations had been forgotten because there aren't any evolution in the leading roles (the same voices, expressions, etc.). Probably Taylor Lutner had improve a little bit, but isn't enough. Despite of that, it hasn't been sufficient. There are lack of thriller and comedy.
