A fun good idea where a fat man can't seem to stop dropping his weight all of a sudden due to a gypsy curse, but there isn't possible to go very far with the idea and it all feels dragged out for too long and has a feel of an over-extended "Tales from the Crypt" episode. The film consist also mostly of unlikable characters, but I do like Kari Wuhrer who really looks like a wicked daughter of a gypsy king.
Was this supposed to be taken seriously? The fat suit looks completely ridiculous and the plot just gets sillier and sillier as it goes until we get to the awful ending. The whole thing isn't horrible but it's never really good.
Tom Holland's adaptation of Stephen King's novel is a morbidly humorous character study of hypocritical and sanctimonious douche bags who all get what they deserve in one way or another. Don't expect to find this listed among the best King adaptations, but worth the watch for the unsettling makeup effects and perversely charismatic turns from Robert John Burke and Joe Mantegna.
