2 1/2 out of 5 stars. Admittedly I was entertained to an extent but watching these guys do the exact same goddamned thing for the past several years has officially gotten old. The Rosemary's Baby bit and Pineapple Express 2 parts were actually hysterical but the Backstreet Boys in heaven finale squashed any credibility this movie had. I don't think The World's end can be any worse.
I can see that they were having fun making this, but the problem is that I was not having fun and laughing. A couple of funny bits but everything was shown in the trailer. Danny McBride saves this movie from being a complete bore-fest. Oh yeah, and the secret celebrity cameo (Channing Tatum) was funny.
Ferociously funny, ingeniously mean, painfully hilarious. This is the end has got all I could ever want from a comedy/sci-fi/horror(?) movie. The thin line between complete genius and total foolishness is getting thinner and thinner, and I like it.
If you're a fan of this Stoner Brat Pack 2.0 you're bound to love it. I don't think I ever stopped laughing, it's so good. I personally appreciated Rogen and Goldberg ragging on Franco's art career sooo hard (those Freaks and Geeks paintings were amazing?) Also: "You've built a house with iPads in the wall but you're still jerking off like a fucking Pilgrim" ha ha ha haaa <3
You get the sense early on that this film plays by its own rules. I love the idea that all these actors are just bad people at heart, and everyone in this movie is very self deprecating (perhaps the funniest being Michael Cera). It has some truly demented moments and it even gets more insane as it goes on right to the end. The middle drags a bit but for the most part this is the best comedy from this group I've seen.
