Everything was quite enjoyable at the start but then was dragged down as the movie progressed. The three characters were really likable in the beginning but towards the end of the film, I pretty much lose all empathy / sympathy regarding all three of them. The ending also seems wrong. But I loved the chemistry or the 'bromance' between the two boys, Tom Hardy and Chris Pine.
Unregulated, wholesale eavesdropping on civilians by the US government gets a "humorous" makeover. The limp rom-com element vastly outweighs the gunfights and bad guys promised at the start, and their return near the end is lazily tacked-on. Tom Hardy is better than this, and should stick to "Tinker, Tailor" territory in future when it comes to spy flicks. Just total fucking garbage.
Not much is to be expected from director McG, but "This Means War" had its share of enjoyable moments. Unfortunately, in between those moments were other moments that were not enjoyable. Ultimately, Tom Hardy was very charming and some gags and action scenes were a lot of fun, but otherwise most of the cast was grating.
Worst movie of 2012 (so far)! One of the most insulting and idiotic female characters ever to grace the screen, combined with an abysmal script, overlit photography and the most manicly jumbled editing I've seen in a long time. Nothing makes sense, nothing works and nothing here is worth seeing.
A romantic comedy about two spy colleagues fighting over the same woman while trying to woo her by using cool gadgets. It has charming male leads in Chris Pine and Tom Hardy and some good funny moments when they sabotage each other's attempt to sleep with the girl, but Reese Witherspoon do nothing in the film but smile and trying to charm herself through it making me hope the two men would end up together instead.
