I admire the ability of this film to draw attention to the compulsion of living - despite everything! 'Sherman's March' is another example. McElwee's impressive and seemingly aimless documentation of his own unfolding familylife makes up such a beautiful necklace of pearls. It is impossible to take my eyes off it as it never ceases to shine an almost cosmic light. I'd say before the videoblog there was Ross McElwee.
Time Indefinite is probably the best documentary I have ever seen. In Sherman’s March, Ross McElwee dragged me into his world of confusion, frustration and over interpretation. In Time Indefinite his doing the same thing, but with more heart, sorrow and happiness I could identify with. Ross McElwee really makes you think of your one life while your watching his. Everyone should see his films!
