**1/2. British social drama / schoolteacher having trouble with teens subgenus. Not bad but not great either compared to Richard Brooks's 'Blackboard Jungle' (1955) for instance. If rock scares the conservative adults in the USA, pop music is described as an act of disciplined rebellious attitude in England. Poitier is perfect as always. Almost already forgotten.
Sweet story, but unfortunately offers nothing new or fresh. A teacher winning his students over is a scenario that has been explored countless of times. The 60s flare and swinging London basically save the movie, along with some individual scenes and performances, but otherwise pretty pedestrian.
