A movie about the intertwining of Religion, Business, Justice and Politics in the Italy of the early 70's. Whatever you may think of Italy, when an Italian director decides to shoot a movie about politics, the result is breathtaking. I'm still waiting for the mainstream French, American or British movie director who could dare to present such a film in his own country. Highly recommended.
Todo Modo premediated, among other things, the assassination of Prime Minister Aldo Moro (1978). Too hot for Italy - it angered the Church, the Christian Democrats, the Americans, that is, all the powers that be, Petri was basically excommunicated and the film fell into oblivion (the only copy was "accidentaly" burnt in a fire at Cinecittà). Recently restored, TM is one of the greatest conspiracy films ever made.
Amazing, a masterpiece. Great storyline, great allegoric power, great symbolism, amazing visionary mise-en-scene, good music, incredible acting (Volonte`+ Mastroianni + Ingrassia + Melato!!) and, as usual, Petri's unique touch. And so perceptive of the reality of its times that it ended up being prophetic (google "Aldo Moro" and the year 1978 after you finish this film).
