A waste collector, Tom Sweep, is trying his best to clean up his neighborhood. However, when he approaches a garbage can to empty it, one thoughtless person after another passes by and makes an even bigger mess.
While Sisyphus contended with a boulder and a hill, the eponymous character of this storybook short has a cyclical torrent of litter to tackle. Bouncing along to the concertina sounds of an accordion, Michaël Dudok de Wit’s animation bundles waste and labor into a comedy that overflows with charm.
