I guess this is what they would call an urban fairytale. I call it fanboy wish-fulfilment. The ending makes up for the implausibility of the story but it will also make you feel like you've wasted your time. Possibly one of the first films to annoyingly overlay computer chat onscreen.
A little bit of sweetness nearly saves this, but alas. It's one of the longest 100 minutes I can recall. Its psychology is shallow. Its great cast (especially in Nakatani and Osugi) is dreadfully underused. And at the end, it feels a bit too much like a pamphlet for 2ch dweebs produced by some ministry of social affairs" "Just fuck each other already, you damn kids!"
