Alma is a small-town teen with a big imagination. Horny and looking for love, she has only her lively imagination and a kindly phone sex operator to ameliorate her frustratingly lonely and chaste life. But Alma’s active fantasy world and even more active libido only seem to get her into trouble.

So much good comes out of this. By being so good showing how the characters feel about living in a Norwegian small town, it becomes universal. By being so candid and unapologetic about the conflits of dealing with sexuality of a teen girl, the story becomes of interest to both girls and boys. By creating such a powerfull cliché avoiding coming of age story, this becomes more than a teen movie, all ages can enjoy it.
The opening masturbation scene is absolutely wonderful. Had the rest of the film been as risky or as explicit as this opening (some moments came close) than I might have really loved the film. That being said, I did enjoy this film. Its a lovely coming age tale of the rising sexuality of a young horny teen girl. Definitely a fun watch!
Absurdly funny and (most importantly) realistically harsh story about what it's like to live out your teenage years feeling out of touch and isolated from society. Our main girl in Norway is feeling too horny and too claustrophobic with her small town life and happens upon a series of fantasies and misadventures. The dream-like (yet somehow grounded) style blends well the comical dialogue and quirky characters.
An unusually perceptive look at female sexuality through the eyes of a teen girl with raging hormones who becomes a social outcast after a boy's sexual advances turn her into the talk of the school. With so many movies about male libido, this is a refreshingly frank celebration that female sexuality is nothing to be ashamed of. Insightful, funny, & poignant, and one of the best coming of age comedies in years.
best coming of age film i've seen. i hate even classifying it as that because its so much more, the dry humor really made me smirk and the atmosphere allows me to feel this girl's strong turbulent emotions. film was hip, smart, audacious
A lot more experimental than I was expecting. The trips into fantasy are a blast and it feels more like Fucking Amal than Easy A (still not as great as Fucking Amal, but few movies are). The story does take some obvious turns but nothing too distracting to ruin the spirit of the flick. Its nice to see that teenage girls are just as horny as teenage boy and are actually human characters too!
