Agnes throws Atli out and does not want him to see their daughter Ása anymore. He moves in with his parents, who are involved in a bitter dispute over their big and beautiful tree that casts a shadow on the neighbours’ deck.

A fascinatingly cruel and infuriatingly bleak social satire that straddles a shaky line between pure misanthropy towards every major character and over the top misogyny towards its three thoroughly unlikable leading ladies. The last twenty minutes takes "gonzo" to a new level.
A Scandinavian take on Greek tragedy with a large dose of middle class angst/mental health thrown in. Beautiful Nietzschean nods to birth and death rituals and grief with fiendishly black laughs set against an unsettling Icelandic summer. Reactionary taxidermy never looked so good! B-.
