Tries to commit to being serious when, at this point, it and the formula it so devotedly follows is anything but. Katherine Heigl has moments of inspiration, but as is with these soapy, homewrecking dramas, once the actors are tasked to become flagrantly emotional, it all goes out the window. A very misleading title.
10/14/18, Cinemax. A very solid entry in the modern "[blank] from Hell" category - here, it's "Helicopter mom from hell". Katherine Heigl is clearly having a ball with this character. It's smartly paced with the unease building towards a very satisfying climax. Dawson is a wonderful foil for Heigl, and it has a couple "what the fuck" moments, which you need for this kind of thing. KH should make more of these.
