  • AKFilmFan's rating of the film Zatoichi 24: Zatoichi in Desperation

Dark & gloomy, this is easily the weakest film of the series. This 24th entry is just hard to enjoy visually, w/ claustrophobic direction & framing that works against it. Then there's the sexual content, which is only there for its own sake. And while moments of humor help, the worst sin is Ichi getting lost in his own film, as he saves an unlikable prostitute & doesn't save a girl and her brother before suicide.
