Marcel, the village idiot, likes to turn into a scarecrow to attract birds. He leaves the family farm on the eve of his mother’s wedding. He meets Popov, a black Russian clown who is part of a family circus touring Europe, but has just missed the circus for Italy and takes the train to join him.
