Never mind length, feel the width. At just less than 90 minutes, The Brown Bunny is small enough for its many minutiae to grow big, sink deep, burn permanent imprints on the brain.

In counterpoint to the notorious fellatio scene that appears towards the end of the film, for much of The Brown Bunny's duration there is little dramatic action, or dialogue. Yet Vincent Gallo strongly conveys the private turmoil, blame and irrationality that is capable of affecting any bereaved person... The film conveys sensations, records natural phenomena, pulses with desire and delirium and dispenses with "the narrative labour that most filmmakers submit to, without resistance".
