Our take

How do you follow one of the great Oscar® triumphs of recent memory? Two years after Moonlight took Best Picture, Barry Jenkins returned with this gorgeous adaptation of James Baldwin’s powerful love story. A poetic wonder of political expressionism, If Beale Street Could Talk is a gift of a film.
