*This list is still undergoing addition, as I can’t remember all the films I’ve watched that left a lasting effect on me as an aspiring filmmaker all at once. Please also note that the ratings applied by any reviewer do not reflect my actual opinion on the films, as I’d rather interpret them as an attempt of creating art, rather than products subject to mere rating standards.
This is a personal and subjective list of 333 (my favourite number) films from a century of cinema. It’s not a set text or intended as any bible of ‘greatest’ films. I decided to put this together by Edgar Wright’s encouragement to create my own fluid list for my own enjoyment and study reference (you may notice a few sentences here and there that I’ve borrowed from his own description to amplify our intentions more commonly). I hope there are those who will take interest to pore over and dive into some of the films you haven’t seen or haven’t heard of.
There is no need to get all agitated about omissions or which films you think should be favourites of mine, the truth is I may very well like / not like or not have seen the movies you think are missing. In fact, I like way more than 333 movies, but any above my preferred number, and this list would become quite overwhelming, personally.
If you feel inspired, make your own list. Film watching is a life time pursuit and there’s many more films out there for me, and you to see in utter wonder.
