FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: OF MINES AND MINERS is a work in progress.
Why this short listed subject?… it’s got to be one of the most physically demanding, life threatening, unforgiving jobs known to man… their breed has yet to be extinguished and technology is advancing without them in mind… they deserve to be remembered… through dangerous, horrific conditions, depressing lifestyles and deadly confrontations they’ve been forced to contend with for over the past century and a half+, they’re still making front-page news around the world with tragic connections every single time… i’ve attempted to avoid stripmining, mountaintop removal and environmental activism documentaries from the list (unless i feel it’s a significant contribution), and utilize full feature films going back to the thirties, when the miners cause was far from its infancy… other mining subjects (such as gold and diamonds) may be used to expand this genre at a later date.
