Generation X directors

I was thinking about some of the more seminal directors from our generation or those that have come to prominence in our time that also seem to capture the zeitgeist as well as stake out new ground in how they direct and use actors. They have engineered a newer sensibility but have eked out newer, more individualistic visions distinct from the bland commercialism our generation was gorged on. Not exhaustive but a good primer.
