West German/Danish mystery/thriller cycle mainly made by Rialto Film in the 1960s. The subgenre was commonly based on stories by English crime writer Edgar Wallace (1875-1932). Usually set in the UK. Often see a Scotland Yard detective pursuing a criminal mastermind or a seemingly supernatural villain. Often with a rather dated comic tone.
