Overall, Manoel de Oliveira is one of the most interesting directors working today. Not only is he a little offbeat, his endings are often surprising, because he won’t patronize the audience or necessarily give them what they want. Currently, he is the oldest working director at 101. This guy just won’t quit and is as active as ever. I encourage you to delve into his work.
