Though a tad saccharine in places, “Música” boasts an “anything goes” spirit that makes it easier to forgive those more formulaic bits... Now that Mancuso has gotten his origin story out onto the screen, it’s exciting to wonder what a sophomore effort could entail for him.

Sure, Música stomps its way into some cheesy pitfalls, but it’s also an unusually refreshing rom-com. The central plot may be as old as time, but Mancuso’s twist on it and the ending... are more realistic than what you’d typically find of counterparts within the genre.
