Great stylish debut film. Very good performances. Live Cargo captures mood almost perfectly. Enjoyed the score a lot, great island music too.

Wee Hunk

White girls are a precious commodity, but incredibly beautiful young blonde white women are something else. You have to lock them up, or at least hire a bodyguard. Don't go around displaying them in public. You can cause a riot, or even a war. LaKeith does a splendid job. He can do comedy or drama because they both come from the same place.

Superfrog

(for the first half of the film) Brilliant images but the storyline is weak. I would have finished it if I had been able to find the time. The fact that I do not mind the fact that I won't be able to is telling though.

Too bad that the fine photography cannot lift this spineless drama to a film with proper storytelling and cinematographic aesthetic. This is what happens when postcard photography works as a substitute for character psychology and informed social commentary. The latter is merely incidental and the tragedy that unfolds has no impact whatsoever on the viewer and leaves no dramatic trace. Dree H. though is expressive.

Daniella Nowitz's cinematography is beautiful, it adds depth and emotional context - a paradisal, almost empty landscape where sadness and tragedy lies. However, the narrative is so uneven, we feel the heavy tone but it focuses on the characters swiftly, with nothing explored at all - it is confusing at some point. I liked Stanfield's performance but he is sadly underused here. Last 10 mins. saved by Exuma's "Baäl".

Toning down the tropical beauty by filming in black & white let us see the lives lived in beautiful surroundings without colorful distractions yet somehow managed to keep the natural beauty of the landscape as centerpiece.

El tratamiento de la imagen es increíble, visualmente es placentero para el ojo, pero cuando comenzamos a tratar la narrativa del filme nos topamos con personajes planos los cuales el autor no se toma el tiempo de desarrollarlos. El filme necesita muchísimo más tiempo para plantear la realidad y el contexto que vive cada personaje, darle más sentido y significado a quienes son y cual es su motivación.
