The Jackie Chan Projects

MUBI Special

A Jackie Chan double feature! The action-comic maestro both directed and starred in these two martial arts favorites from the 1980s.

Project A2

Jackie Chan Hong Kong, 1987

Jackie Chan returns! Project A2 is yet another breathlessly paced action film in the Jackie Chan oeuvre, and while the maestro of comic martial arts would later leave for Hollywood to varying degrees of success, it’s classics like the two Project A films which remain his most purely enjoyable works.

Project A

Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung Kam-Bo Hong Kong, 1983

Jackie Chan writes and directs this kinetic marriage between the slapstick and action film. Taking equal inspiration from the likes of Harold Lloyd and Buster Keaton (complete with a Safety Last! homage), Project A is one of Chan’s most inspired and whimsical productions.
