Un mois de grand cinéma

Adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Colson Whitehead, this incendiary drama is the fiction debut from director RaMell Ross. Adopting a radical, first-person visual vocabulary, Nickel Boys chronicles the horrors of a Jim Crow-era Florida reform school with piercing empathy and insight.

Before his acclaimed coming-of-age drama My Father’s Shadow Akinola Davies Jr. directed this short, also cowritten with his brother. Trailing after an inquisitive girl in search of truths unpreached, Lizard gives grand shape to her irreverent quest through its majestic use of architecture and light.

The first feature from visionary Senegalese director Djibril Diop Mambéty is simply a masterpiece. Winner of the international critics’ award at Cannes, the film’s extraordinary sound design, choppy associative editing, and cool central couple dreaming of escape continues to electrify and inspire.
