Ana Cristina Barragán is a young and prolific Ecuadorian director internationally recognized for her debut feature Alba, a film that won the Lions Award at the Rotterdam Film Festival and the FIPRESCI Critics' Prize in Toulouse.
Over the past ten years, she has directed several short films and two feature films that have been presented in venues such as Locarno, San Sebastian, Toronto, and Thessaloniki. In her works, she has portrayed, in a haunting and sometimes gloomy way, intimate experiences of girls and teenagers facing death for the first time. Alba and La piel pulpo, her second feature film, were nominated for the Goya Award for Best Ibero-American Film.
On the other hand, Sofía Quirós Ubeda is a director and screenwriter from Costa Rica based in Argentina. Her short film Selva and her debut feature Ceniza negra were the first entries from her country to be selected for the Cannes Critics' Week. Her feature film was also nominated for the Goya Award for Best Ibero-American Film.
Through a poetic approach, Quirós has created atmospheres in which the spiritual world dialogues with the material world. The sensitivity and desire of her female characters permeate the natural environment that surrounds them. Her most recent short film, El silencio de los niños, premiered in the Latin American Competition at the Mar del Plata Film Festival.

Ana Cristina Barragán es una joven y prolífica directora ecuatoriana reconocida internacionalmente por su ópera prima Alba, película que obtuvo el Lions Award en el Festival de Rotterdam y el Premio de la Crítica FIPRESCI en Toulouse.
En poco más de diez años, ha dirigido varios cortos y dos largometrajes que se han presentado en escenarios como Locarno, San Sebastián, Toronto y Thessaloniki. En sus obras ha retratado, de manera inquietante y en ocasiones sombría, experiencias íntimas de niñas y adolescentes que se enfrentan por primera vez a la muerte. Alba y La piel pulpo, su segundo largometraje, obtuvieron nominaciones al Goya a Mejor Película Iberoamericana.
Por otro lado, Sofía Quirós Ubeda es una directora y guionista de Costa Rica basada en Argentina. Su cortometraje Selva y su ópera prima Ceniza negra fueron las primeras obras seleccionadas de su país en la Semana de la Crítica de Cannes. Su largometraje también fue nominado al Goya como Mejor Película Iberoamericana.
A través de una forma poética, Quirós ha creado atmósferas en las que el mundo espiritual dialoga con el mundo material. La sensibilidad y el deseo de sus personajes femeninos permean el entorno natural que las rodea. Su cortometraje más reciente, El silencio de los niños, se estrenó en la Competencia Latinoamericana del Festival de Mar del Plata.
