Hauntingly atmospheric, Jayro Bustamante’s tremulous sophomore effort makes tangible the weight of Evangelical Christianity in Guatemala, forcing same-sex lovers to live in the shadows. Nestled amid the tension between communal doctrine and personal freedom are healing vignettes of queer intimacy.
