[Jethica] has an old-fashioned, downbeat allure; it plays like a modern update on a Hollywood B-movie. Much of the delight is in the sheer audacity of the plot... Don’t look for character development; the foregrounded world of taut, moody action features simple but astounding special effects and concludes with a wink that’s as absurd as it is cinematically astute.

While [the filmmakers] had plenty of opportunities here to make something heavy-handed — commenting on the kind of men who won’t leave women alone, for example — their film is surprisingly gentle, and thus more haunting.

Jethica expands the possibilities of cinema... [It] comedically addresses a serious topic — stalking — while exploring the emotional lives of ghosts. Ohs works with little in Jethica and yet achieves something grandiose.

At once dryly funny and surprisingly poignant, “Jethica” uses the paranormal as a metaphor for abusive male behavior. The film’s deadpan perspective and unhurried pacing can diffuse its surprises, but Ohs has an offbeat style that’s fresh and fun.

Jethica is a bit thin... But it’s also clever, accomplished, and has a distinct sensibility of its own.

What [Jethica] lacks in flashy production values, it more than makes up for with considerable ingenuity and cleverness — not to mention, a great deal of delightfully dry, deadpan humor.

Jethica sets out to reinvent the rules around ghosts, creating an interesting new set of ideas... [The film] balances itself admirably, fitting alongside fellow kooky ghost stories, A Ghost Waits and The Jessica Cabin.

Jethica is a bold attempt to do something different. It’s a film with a distinct personality which some viewers will fall in love with and which no-one will quickly forget. Full of dysfunctional characters and moral ambiguity, it nevertheless has a sweetness about it which is rare in this context, and full of potential.

[Ashley Denise Robinson and Callie Hernandez] hold down the fort with dry delivery and somewhat haunted-looking expressions... There is something inherently dark and ominous about the desert setting, with its harsh sunlight, long empty roads seemingly to nowhere, and dusty, abandoned petrol stations.

Jethica takes on some of the qualities of an old exquisite corpse game, each scene flowing naturally from the previous on... There’s an “anything goes” quality to the storytelling that infuses the proceedings with an electric energy.

Pete Ohs collaborated with his cast to create the screenplay for “Jethica,” and the cacophony of voices in the script evokes the cacophony of talkative spirits hanging around the movie’s edges. This is a strange film all around, distractible and full of Olympic-level tonal gambits.

[Jethica is] built from the type of off-kilter storytelling that goes from one sequence to the next with confidence and focus, evolving in front of your eyes without losing your attention... Nothing seems too, too out of the ordinary in this world, even though it is to us. It’s a striking combination that helps make “Jethica” all the more memorable.
