It's pretty fun when it doesn't take itself seriously in the beginning, but the hypocritical nature of main character Brian Flanagan brings the movie down; it's one of the few of these kinds of movies you find yourself hoping that him and Elisabeth Shue don't end up together. The reliable character actor Bryan Brown as the bartending proletarian poet Doug McCoughlin is a great constant though.
Could be an interesting take into a rebellious man fantasies, who always follows his ego and doesn't give a fuck with morals and rules. And this film also could be a great 80's time capsule with the cheesiness and the silliness from the era.
Too bad that what did i got is a bland, repetitive, also a highly sexist film. And the ending was so "out of tone".

There are hints of 80s cheesiness, complete with a nightclub scene and everything, but it's all so muted that I ultimately got bored. Romance as the main thread didn't help either. My expectations might have been too high, since I was looking forward to seeing a neon colour vomit infused with cocktails.
