I knew what I was getting into after having watched it for the first time at the cinema years ago. But you are never prepared to face a young kid reminding you of the collective lie you live in. Epic soundtrack.
Such a good movie, I like the story because was well supported until the end. It was very inspirational for me. Actually Emile Hirsch is one of my favorite young actors, good performance. Love this movie, five stars.
The film idealizes him somewhat. In reality, he is not looking for freedom but enclosing himself from the world which scared him. Easier to escape from problems than fight them directly and find a genuine freedom by standing for who you are. In his case probably an inability to deal with something deep inside. Possibly homosexuality.
Thankfully, this subtle film does not shy from either of these themes.
~*~ white people existentialism ~*~ Very boring, privileged character. His idealism and ideas are often contradictory. Like, having a disdain for college education while basing all your ideas off authors that define that milieu. The photography and editing were very sloppy, save for the occasional beautiful nature shot. If it weren't for the great performances by some secondary characters this would be forgettable.
great film..nice shots here n there..there r two things I might conclude from this movie: 1. ironically, "happiness is only real when shared"; and 2. next time if anybody ever write a book about edible&inedible plants, they should separate it in 2 different sections/chapters, cause if not, it might actually leads to someones death..; overall this movie is moving& touching, but not my cup of tea..
