Long before his Academy Award® wins, Ang Lee made his sophomore film, subsequently thrusting him closer to the world of Hollywood for a rare, complex understanding of family. Boldly tackling queer themes at a time when it was still taboo, The Wedding Banquet is a lovely, acute, underrated comedy.
