In 1931 Berlin, aspiring writer Brian Roberts falls in love with honky-tonk singer Sally Bowles. The ex-pat American with her zest for life takes the uptight British academic on a tour of the city’s nightlife, while in the street the Nazi party is beginning to grow into a brutal political force.
