THE CAT O' NINE TAILS

When a break-in occurs at a secretive genetics institute, blind puzzle-maker Franco, who overheard an attempt to blackmail one of the institute’s scientists, teams up with reporter Carlo to crack the case. As bodies begin to pile up, the amateur sleuths find their own lives imperilled.

The eyes have it in Dario Argento’s sophomore feature, a giallo meditation on the act of seeing. We may be some years away from the expressionistic fugues of his best-known films, but Argento’s love for his stalking camera and the destabilizing effects of production design are already in full bloom.
