“Star-crossed” is a phrase that describes a pair of lovers whose relationship is often thwarted by outside forces and doomed from the start. The term is astrological in origin, stemming from the belief that the position of the stars ruled over people’s fates, and is best known from the Shakespearean play, Romeo and Juliet.
