MUBI Podcast: Encuentros returns this week with a new episode.

The fifth episode features:

Laura Paredes, an Argentine actress, recognized in the theater scene for being part of Piel de Lava, one of the most outstanding groups inside and outside her country for its strong experimental approach. Paredes has worked in film with Argentine directors such as Martín Rejtman, Santiago Mitre, and Matías Piñeiro. She has starred in Laura Citarella's two feature films: Ostende (2011) and Trenque Lauquen (2022), the latter of which premiered at the most recent edition of the Venice Film Festival.  

The second guest is Manuela Martelli, a Chilean actress and director whose career began with outstanding performances in films in her country directed by Andrés Wood and Gonzalo Justiniano. Since then, she has appeared in films by renowned Latin American directors such as Sebastián Lelio, Martín Rejtman, and Alicia Scherson, as well as in projects in Italy, Spain, and Belgium.  

Based on their most recent experiences, Laura and Manuela share some thoughts on acting and the fruitful relationship that has been established between film and theater.

Laura Paredes, actriz argentina reconocida en la escena teatral por ser parte de Piel de Lava, uno de los grupos más destacados dentro y fuera de su país por un fuerte carácter experimental. Paredes ha trabajado en cine con directores argentinos como Martín Rejtman, Santiago Mitre y Matías Piñeiro. Ha protagonizado los dos largometrajes de Laura Citarella: Ostende y Trenque Lauquen, este último estrenado en la más reciente edición del Festival de Venecia.

 La segunda invitada es Manuela Martelli, actriz y directora chilena cuya carrera comenzó con destacadas interpretaciones en películas de su país dirigidas por Andrés Wood y Gonzalo Justiniano. Desde entonces, ha participado en películas de importantes directores latinoamericanos como Sebastián Lelio, Martín Rejtman y Alicia Scherson, así como en proyectos en Italia, España y Bélgica.  

A partir de sus más recientes experiencias, Laura y Manuela comparten algunas ideas sobre la actuación y la provechosa relación que se ha establecido entre el cine y el teatro.
