Turkish cinema has celebrated its 100th year in 2014. It all began back in 1914 with a documentary named as "Ayestefanos’taki Rus Abidesinin Yıkılışı (Demolition of the Russian Monument at San Stefano). The director of the documentary is Fuat Uzkınay and the film has been shown on the 14th of November, 1914. [1]
After 100 years, one of the most prominent Turkish directors, Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s movie “Kış Uykusu” (Winter Sleep) won the Palme d’Or Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014. [
