Violet is a student who seeks to transform life at her college. With friends Rose & Heather she takes under wing seemingly nice transfer student Lily who soon attracts the attentions of both “playboy-operator” Charlie (Adam Brody) & dreamboat grad student Xavier—but it’s Violet who end up crushed.

Whit Stillman made his triumphant return to directing movies with this inspired comedy of romantic disenchantment and female friendship. Stillman finds the perfect sparring partner of wits in Greta Gerwig, and together with the rest of the stellar cast made something of a modern screwball classic.
