Yahudi bir aydın olan Zweig, Nazi Almanyası’ndan kaçarak 1934 yılında Londra’ya yerleşir. 1940 yılındaysa eşiyle birlikte Amerika’ya göç eder ve önce New York’ta daha sonraysa intihar ederek hayatına son verinceye değin Brezilya’da yaşar.

As Stefan Zweig travelled in exile between Buenos Aires, New York and Brazil during the years preceding WWII, his conscience was consumed with the thoughts of the horrors occurring in his home, Europe. This biopic compellingly traces the philosophical reflections of the tormented author.
