“It’s a fun thing as an actor to get to do some homework and to buff up on some history that you wouldn’t otherwise know about. Why it keeps attracting me, I’m not sure. What I would say is that there’s a larger point of why we, as an audience, are so interested in historical dramas. I think that boils down to fascination with what history can tell us about today. History doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme.”
